History and culture between Serravalle and Follina

This trip will show you some of the finest architecture in this district. You will start from Conegliano and its castle, touching on Rua and San Pietro di Feletto, with its Romanesque church and then visit the Molinetto della Croda in Refrontolo.

Follina - Abbazia circestenseAfterwards, you climb towards Rolle, Farro and Follina to see the extraordinary Cistercian abbey with its delightful cloister, monastery and basilica. Returning eastwards you encounter the imposing castle of the Brandolini family, recently restructured, and the lovely town of Cison di Valmarino.

Cison di Valmarino - Castello dei BrandoliniAs you continue through the valley, you come to various villages where you can still see traces of traditional architecture, like in Tovena, S. Maria and Revine. Eventually you reach Vittorio Veneto, an episcopal see since Longobard times and site of the castle of San Martino, and the important artistic centre, with a lovely old town, of Serravalle.

From Follina, by heading west you come upon Miane and Combai, famous for its chestnuts, and at Guia meet up again with the main loop of the wine road.
